THE NEED

We have an IMMEDIATE plan to begin development of proprietary next-generation software to further our hold as the leader in this niche market and to offer our customers a significantly more feature-rich server management experience than that which is currently offered by either our own current hosting platform or by that of any of our competitors.

Our new web-based FTP server application will run on Linux within a virtualized OS environment for each customer and will be developed as a Ruby on Rails application.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Lead Application Developer/Architect

FTP Today is seeking a dedicated, reliable, and self-motivated Ruby on Rails application developer with extensive knowledge in Linux, various httpd and ftpd, MySQL, Ruby, Rails and possibly PHP.

• This position is for a top-notch, seasoned, self-motivated expert who has hands-on experience and who wants to be a key player in a growing, innovative company.

• This position is for someone that is part of the solution – not part of the problem.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

Advanced Level – Linux

Advanced Level – MySQL

Advanced Level – Apache, lighttpd or other

Advanced Level – Ruby

Advanced Level – Rails

Advanced Level - Database Modeling/Administration

Intermediate Level – vsftpd, pureftpd or other

Intermediate Level – Git or other versioning system

Intermediate Level – Parallels Virtuozzo (formerly SWSoft Virtuozzo)

Intermediate Level – Parallels Business Automation (formerly SWSoft HSP Complete)

We would like to work with a top-notch, seasoned pro that is like-minded; someone who wants to be part of tight, energy giving/receiving talented team of professionals that work from home under one company, and help us compete professionally in the corporate environment. This is a long-term project (1 to 2 years) and could easily work into permanent employment even if started as independent contractor.

** Our employees / contractors work from home via dedicated (paid for) phone lines, high-speed Internet connections, instant messaging, webcams, dedicated FTP server/storage and our own hosted email. Therefore, candidates do NOT need to live in the Cincinnati Metro Area to be considered for this position. However, candidates must be extremely self-motivated and truly want to be a key player in a growing, innovative company. This is a full-time opportunity.
