GetEducated.com, a consumer advocacy and watchdog group that researches, rates, ranks online colleges and verifies the credibility of online universities seeks freelance journalists as well as staff reporters and a managing editor. Must be able to write tight, snappy, engaging consumer articles related to comparison shopping for higher education online. Must be able to write informative, unique, high-value consumer oriented news pieces on topics such as “should you trust your student loan officer?”; Superior research, interviewing, and telephone data acquisition skills; Excellent reporting, editing and news development skills Knowledge of online education industry (college and prof continuing ed level) extremely helpful; Statistical and research acumen to produce reliable rating and ranking tables and lists; Ability to work independently and multi-task; Familiarity with Web publishing tools, from posting to creating new editorial sections to page SEO and traffic analysis; Willingness to develop, lead and edit community sections including postings, ranking forums, blogs Bachelor's in Journalism or similar; Minimum 5 years full-time as journalist/editor with online publication; Prefer top experience writing/researching for consumer publication; Skills in online publishing (Dreamweaver, content publishing, HTML,Photoshop). Must be values driven individual who shares the company’s vision If hired as managing editor you'll manage freelancers and news feeds, write news, develop news sections, produce newsletter, and lead all community content aspects.
