Loomia , a leader in the recommendations and personalization space, is looking for a MySQL DBA who is passionate about designing and building the next generation recommendations delivery platform. You will be part of a small group of talented engineers building the features and infrastructure components used by high volume sites to deliver personalized content from multiple sources to hundreds of millions of people on multiple delivery platforms (web, phone, iptv and more). We have a proven product with a lot of demand and you should want to solve interesting problems that directly impact the company’s success. Reports to: VP of Engineering Essential Responsibilities You will be responsible for the architecture, design and operational support of our logical model, physical database and supporting infrastructure. The successful candidate will have experience as a design DBA as well as an operational DBA. We are growing by leaps and bounds so you should be ready to use your performance tuning expertise and to use your replication experience to manage our multi-master replication. • Create and maintain a comprehensive data model. • Performance tune database schema and work with developers to build efficient use of the database within their code. • Design and deploy a partitioning strategy to spread database load across several servers. • Evangelize and educate development team on database best practices. • Maintain development and test environments that mimic our production environment. • Work with our operations team to maintain an effective backup and recover strategy. • Work with development teams for application and query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning. • Perform database health monitoring and diagnostics. • Research and explore new database technologies (mysql cluster/max, etc.) . Requirements • Expert working knowledge of MySQL internals • Expert working knowledge of high volume MySQL database administration • Strong working knowledge of MySQL replication • Strong working knowledge of DB backup, recovery, and optimization techniques • Strong working knowledge of system and application performance tuning • Strong working knowledge of logical design and ERD modelling • Working knowledge of open source technologies (linux, python, memcached) • Good communication skills • Our office is located in a great North Beach neighborhood that is just a short walk from Bart. Relocation and telework situations will be considered. Telework option is only available to the right candidate with the drive and diligence to work remotely and stay connected to the SF dev team.
