Telecommute Lead Developer

Lead Programmer for PAKRA

Are you a PHP/MySQL developer seeking to innovate and make big impact as part of a small team? Do you want to be part of expanding the reach of games and game-based learning into corporate learning programs?

At PAKRA, we design and develop web-based games that simulate work-related processes and environments. Our games allow employees learn how to do their work better, safer, more efficiently and effectively. PAKRA games are delivered via the PAKRA Console, an innovative tool for game management and game-play analytics. Game-play analytics empower employers and managers to make better decisions regarding screening, hiring, placing and training employees.

You will develop new features and maintain existing features on the PAKRA console. Your day-to-day work involves PHP and MySQL programming on the PAKRA console as well as some Flash-based game development and maintenance. You will also use your knowledge of Flash and ActionScript.

Key Responsibilities

1. Research, evaluate, and recommend technical solutions.

2. Analyze, code, debug, test, document and deploy changes to the greater application.

3. Participate in deployment planning and product implementation and roll-out.

4. Support project management and product management in identification of technical risks and work out risk mitigation strategies/approaches.

5. Consult with design, marketing and administrative teams to solve technical problems with consistent focus on customers.

6. Lead in the structuring and continual improvement of our AGILE software development process.

Requirements

1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college with professional coursework in software development

2. Minimum two years experience in leading PHP/MySQL development

3. Expert knowledge of PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS

4. Experience with Flash and ActionScript 2

5. Good understanding of the DOM, JavaScript and AJAX; Experience with web MVC frameworks; Knowledge of consuming and creating Web Services

6. Comfortable in projects using an AGILE, test-driven approach with frequent iterations and change accommodation

7. Exhibits a high degree of initiative, ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly

8. Outstanding written and oral communication skills
