Freelance Spring Web Developer for Contemporary Arts Website

culturehall is a new web based networking and portfolio service for contemporary artists. Our service is intended for art professionals with membership being available on a limited basis.

We are seeking one or more Java developers to aid us in the development of new initiatives and the refinement of our current system.

We expect the successful candidate(s) to be very autonomous, primarily telecommuting with the occasional meeting. culturehall is conveniently located 2 blocks from the 7 train in Long Island City, just 5 minutes away from Grand Central.

Responsibilities

• Complete development process from Java driven backend to web technologies

• Integrating and augmenting existing system design

• Estimating projects and tasks

• Attention to detail and deadlines

• Through documentation

• Troubleshooting and test development

• Work with the following technologies: Java, Spring Web Flow, Spring, JSP, JSTL, JUnit, PostgreSQL, XML, Tomcat, HTML, Javascript, Ant, SVN

Requirements

• 0-2 years of Java development experience

• BS in Computer Science or related experience

• Experience with Java web development (Servlets/JSP)

• Experience using Java with a database, especially via ORM

• Experience using Tomcat for development and production

• Strong attention to detail; passion for technology and excellence

• Motivated self-starter

• Excellent communication skills
