Offsite Senior Staff Engineer

Quantum Intellectual Property Services (QUIPS)seeks a Senior Staff Engineer - Software to support our Licensing division. As a member of the licensing team you will use your depth of experience in technology development to analyze the current and future product and technology trends on an industry and company basis. Your in-depth understanding of the companies, products and technologies in the market will be used to help our client (i) value patent portfolios and set strategic priorities for ongoing patent acquisitions, (ii) develop and implement a patent monetization plan, and (iii) guide priorities and strategies for its patent portfolio development efforts.

Our client is a privately-held, invention investment company based in Bellevue, Washington. Their business model centers on creating, acquiring and licensing pure invention in a variety of technology areas. They plan to commercialize inventions through licensing, spin-offs, joint ventures and industry partnerships.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze technology and related market trends in order to assess intellectual property value.

• Organize and understand a large software patent portfolio.

• Coordinate the activities of patent acquisition efforts with the activities of portfolio licensing groups.

Key Qualifications:

• Strong interest in software technologies and desire to acquire a broad understanding of many technologies

• B.S. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, M.S. preferred.

• 10 years of software development experience as a contributor.

• Strong knowledge of:

• software engineering fundamentals, software architecture and systems design; operating systems, database systems, virtualization, networking; several computer languages; analysis of algorithms; web infrastructure including multi-tier web application architecture, high availability systems; payment systems.

• Strong presentation and written communication skills

• Understanding of various alternative ways to solve problems with software.

• Ability to explain very technical material in simple terms

• Ability to write web application software using multi-tier architecture.
