At Home Network Engineer

Responsibilities: The Network Engineer will be part of a global team responsible for the development and ongoing operations of the customer's wide area network. This is a six-month position, which could result in a longer-term position based upon performance. Primary responsibilities include monitoring and day-to-day operational support of the WAN. The Network Engineer will occasionally be required to work out-of-hours and on weekends, and will provide on-call support from 12:01pm to 12:01am daily for one week each month. The Network Engineer will be involved in the design, engineering, and implementation of network infrastructure through a variety of voice and data projects throughout customer's global reach.

Required Qualifications:

4+ years of experience supporting global WAN environment with multiple operations systems. Expert understanding of Novell environment

 

Basic knowledge of Cisco router hardware and Cisco IOS

 

Experience understanding of wide area networking concepts is a must, including such areas as Frame Relay, MPLS, intranet, Internet, VPN, firewall, telephony, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP

 

High level of expertise with local area networking and PC / desktop infrastructure

 

Some knowledge of network monitoring tools

 

An understanding of the telecommunications and service provider landscape in the countries where the customer operates

 

The ability to work without close supervision as part of a virtual global organization

 

Good written and verbal communications skills
