Remote Part-Time Payroll and Benefits Administrator

The Swedish Family Medicine Providers (SMFP) is a small physician-owned corporation that staffs attending physicians for a high-profile residency program operating within a clinical setting to serve low-income households. Currently, the SFMP is seeking an independent business or individual contractor to assume part-time payroll and benefit services requiring approximately 20-30 hours per month.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Manage benefits for 11 employees and ensure timely payment of all insurance premiums

• Work closely with SFMP President in analyzing current benefit plans for improvements

• Research and assess benefit plans or practices in the marketplace for opportunities to upgrade or enhance SFMP’s benefit portfolio

• Oversee the design and management of SFMP’s 401(k) plan, offering input for improving the program for employees

• Ensure each monthly payroll is processed correctly and timely, reporting changes to the third party payroll processor in a timely fashion and provide monthly payroll reports to the outside CPA for accounting purposes

• Help employees with payroll/benefit questions for prompt resolution

• Help SFMP President manage corporate policies by organizing, tracking, interpreting, and analyzing policies and keeping him informed of all issues and necessary actions

• Ensure all insurance plans are current and adequate for SFMP, including:

o Directors & Officers Liability, Errors and Omissions Liability

o Worker’s Compensation

o ERISA Bond

o Fiduciary Liability

• Ensure proper corporate records are maintained

• Keep SFMP President advised of and compliant with relevant tax obligations and all local, state and federal business statutes and requirements

• Provide all information requested by outside Accountant to complete income taxes, audits etc.

• Work with corporate attorney as necessary

• Help coordinate SFMP’s small, annual shareholder’s meeting as requested

Additional Responsibilities:

• Identify educational programs that will help graduating residents prepare for “managing a business” and “selecting benefits for a small business”

• Help SFMP providers with hospital and insurance credentialing process

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years providing payroll and benefit services to health care providers

• Broad knowledge of business insurance requirements, employee health and welfare insurance plans, and federal, state, and local tax laws

• Must have established client list for references

Personal Qualifications:

The successful consultant will be an individual or service that consistently demonstrates a high level of integrity, is reliable, takes initiative and is accountable for a job well done. Must have a strong record for being organized, detail-oriented, well versed in business practices, proactive, and able to work with people at all organizational levels.

Working Conditions:

Work from home or your office with occasional meetings at the SFMP office site located in Littleton, Colorado.
