Offsite PHP/MySQL Developer

We are a small company which runs a web site providing step-by-step home improvement guides. Our site features hundreds of static HTML pages which receive nearly a million page views monthly. We plan to improve the traffic and quality of this site by deploying a custom-built CMS.

To create this CMS, we need assistance. We're looking for a PHP/MySQL developer to work under our development manager. Qualifications are as follows:

* Ability to follow direction well. We know what we want to do with our content, and how we want to do it. We will provide instructions, and you will be expected to follow them.

* Proficiency in object-oriented programming

* Proficiency in HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL

* Moderate experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stacks

* Must be accustomed to commenting PHP code so future developers can understand it

* Experience with JavaScript is a plus

* Experience with templating in XML/XSLT is a plus

* Experience developing a CMS is a plus

* Experience integrating social networking features (forums, comments, user-submitted content, etc) is a plus

* This is a telecommute position, but the ability to come to our office in Fairfield, Connecticut for occasional meetings is a plus

We plan to have completed and relaunched the site within three to four months, and estimate the total programming hours at around 300, though this may vary somewhat. There may also be future work for the selected applicant depending on how well the project goes (and whether or not we choose to expand further at the end of this project).

This is a part-to-full-time telecommuting position. We're looking for a motivated individual (no groups or firms) with good communication abilities that can deliver on a deadline.
