At Home Support Analyst
A2 Hosting, Inc. is currently seeking talented individuals with strong
customer service skills. Excellent communication skills are expected
along with an honest, self-motivated, and strong desire to expand and
capitalize on your existing skill set. Candidates should be comfortable
using Unix-based (UNIX, Linux, BSD) systems as their preferred operating
system. Ideal candidates will have at least three years of customer
service experience. Preferred candidates will have strong web
development or shell scripting experience.
This is a 1st level technical support position. Job duties will include
the following:
* Resolving technical support issues via our ticket system
* Documenting processes
* Responding to support requests via web-based chat, email, or VoIP
phone
* Escalating support requests when appropriate
Skill Requirements:
Skills should include basic familiarity with some to most the following.
By no means do we expect you to be an expert but we hope you have a
working knowledge of what these items are and how they relate to the
world of information technology. We ask that these skills match ones
that you are interested in learning and honing.
Linux (advanced user to beginning system administrator level)
o Familiarity with CentOS(Redhat) Linux distribution
o Knowledge of file permissions
o Understanding of Unix processes
o Basic knowledge and eagerness to learn computer security
Apache (advanced user to beginning application administrator level)
o Configuration Files and understanding of Virtual Hosts
o Rewrite rules
o .htaccess directives
o SSL Certificates
o Basic understanding of CGI
o Understanding of Apache logs and error files
MySQL
o Ability to create databases and database users
o Familiarity with MySQL user privileges / security
o Comfortable with phpMyAdmin
o Basic knowledge of MySQL command line interface
PHP
o Familiarity with tweaking common PHP directives such as
register_globals
o Programming experience a big plus
o Ability to recognize common errors or mis-configurations with PHP4
and/or PHP5
PostgreSQL
o Ability to create databases and database users
o Familiarity with database user privileges / security
o Comfortable with phpPgAdmin
o Basic knowledge of psql command line interface
Mail Services
o SMTP
o POP
o IMAP
o Outlook and other mail client configurations
o Understanding of SPAM / Virus filtering concepts including RBLs
DNS / BIND
o Working knowledge of how DNS works
