Virtual Senior Java Engineer
National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec), a prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy, has an immediate opening for a Senior Java Engineer (UI). Work location is at the Special Technologies Laboratory in Santa Barbara, CA, or telecommuting will be considered. U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED.
Successful candidate should possess the following:
* BS in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or other related field; or equivalent training and experience
* 5+ years Java development experience
* 3+ years experience developing applications with Java Swing as well as web-based Java applications with JSP or JSF
* Strong knowledge of JFC/Swing, including concurrency, look-and-feel, skins, drag-and-drop
* Solid understanding of interface design best practices including usability and human factors
* Strong knowledge of OOAD and design patterns
* Experience developing both thick-client and thin-client Java applications
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
* Experience JavaFX or Adobe Flex highly desirable
* Experience with automated build tools, including ANT and MAVEN
* Database experience with at least one of the following products: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Hypersonic DB, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server
* Experience with the following Java technologies: RMI, Java Sockets, JMS, JNDI, NASA World Wind
* Experience with the following technology platforms: Apache Projects (HTTP, Tomcat, Felix, ActiveMQ, Commons), JBoss (AS, Hibernate, Seam)
* Mobile and embedded development
