Home Based Instructional Designer/Developer

It is an exciting time to be a part of the 1-800-FLOWERS.COM team! As a virtual (work from home) instructional designer and developer, you will be an integral part of helping our customers connect to the important people in their lives by helping grow our customer-facing training programs. Collaborate with a team including designers, project managers, and subject matter experts to manage multiple end-to-end process for the training development lifecycle. You must have ability to work quickly in a fast-changing environment and an excellent grasp of innovative adult learning techniques.

Responsibilities

    * Assist with needs-analysis and timeline/resource estimations.

    * Ability/Experience in correctly estimating design request timelines and delivering on those estimates.

    * Secure appropriate resources, execute tasks, and regularly communicate programs status.

    * Maintain awareness of the project budget and understand the impacts that decisions may have on budget, time line, and organizational initiatives.

    * Design, develop, deliver, validate, and modify programs and tools that increase job knowledge, develop skills, and influence behavior and communication including but not limited to:

          o Instructor led, web based, e-learning and blended courses

          o Learning programs, course activities, exercises, simulations

          o Job-aids and real time, online communications

          o Train-the-trainer programs and leader’s guides

          o Assessment strategies to evaluate learning results and measure business impact

    * Monitor feedback on courses and partner with stakeholders to make improvements.

    * Keep current in training methodologies and technology developments and work to incorporate best practices.

Qualifications

    * Bachelor degree OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

    * A minimum of 2 years experience in all phases of instructional design, curriculum design/development/delivery with either instructor lead or e-learning projects.

    * Proficiency in MS Office suite application.

    * Knowledge of the following; Snag-it, Corel Paint Shop, Adobe Acrobat, FrontPage/HTML and Flash are preferred.

    * Prior e-Learning development and Call Center Experience a plus.

    * Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including face-to-face, email and telephone.

    * Proven ability to quickly learn software systems and development of training programs.

    * Detail-oriented, organized, flexible and reliable. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
