Remote SSDI Regional Attorney-Arizona

Headquartered in Wakefield Massachusetts, with 120 employees in eight states, Crowe Paradis & Albren (CP&A) is the fastest growing benefit advocacy organization in the United States. Reporting to the Managing Attorney, the remote SSDI Regional Attorney practices in all aspects of social security disability advocacy from his or her home office with a primary function of representing claimants at administrative hearings. The Attorney will need to travel an average of 3-4 days per week (including frequent overnight stays). The Attorney will work via remote connectivity with a regional team (located in the MA or KS office) consisting of a legal support specialist, or other support personnel as determined by the management team. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership:
• Will exhibit a proactive role in managing changes and solving problems
• Takes responsibility for own actions and works to solve problems
• Accepts responsibility for the work product of support staff
• Demonstrates honesty, respect and trustworthiness towards support staff, claimants and clients


Essential Duties:
From a home office, the Attorney will work with his/her team (located in the MA or KS office) to:
• Prepare cases for administrative hearings including complete updating of the evidence and submission of a compelling pre-hearing brief and/or on-the-record request (i.e. motion for summary judgment)
• Calendar management including the scheduling of said hearings, claimant calls, and other meetings
• Draft, write and answer various motions and correspondences (pre and post-hearing)
• Coordinate proper copying, filing, faxing and mailing as needed

At Hearings, the Attorney will:
• Be prepared to make opening and closing statements and conduct direct and cross examinations of the claimant and any expert witnesses
• Engage the Judge in discussion on the merits of the case, citing to the evidence of record and the applicable law
• Represent Crowe Paradis & Albren in a professional, informed and appropriate courtroom manner at all times

Business Partnering and Reporting:
• Establish a strong working relationship with legal support staff and law clerks in order to achieve strong communication and work flow management, regarding claims at the Hearing and Appeals levels
• Establish a strong working relationship with claimant advocates and benefit coordinators in order to achieve strong communication and work flow management, regarding claims at all stages


Qualifications:
The successful completion of the essential duties is dependent upon the candidate’s ability to meet and maintain standing in the following BFOQ’s:
• Admission to the state bar and good standing with the said bar
• Good standing with all Federal agencies, specifically allowing for the ability to practice before Administrative Law Judges at SSDI Hearings
• Establishment of a permanent residence in Phoenix (for these purposes defined as not more than 40 miles via traditional driving routes
• Creation, maintenance and use of a home office located inside said residence as outlined in the offer letter
• The ability and willingness to travel by commercial airline to all fifty states in the US, as well as Puerto Rico; a valid driver’s license and the ability to rent a car at a local airport rental car facility; and the ability to reserve a hotel room
• The ability and willingness to travel to any and all locations as specified above, by air and/or automobile, on average three to four days per week
• Exceptional writing and oral advocacy skills
• Provides leadership and management that demonstrate and reinforces CP&A’s mission and core values
• Satisfactory criminal background record check
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Outlook
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access
• An ability to assess situations and circumstances from a legal perspective and act accordingly
• Exceptional time management, scheduling and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while initiating and completing tasks on schedule and within budget
• Meticulous attention to detail and ability to execute action plans and meet deadlines
• Demonstrated success in a fast paced, volume driven environment


The Remote SSDI Regional Attorney is an exempt position with 75% travel.
