Work at Home Pre/Post Sales Tech Support Professional

Vigil’s live simulation tools are unique in the driver training industry and utilize technologies such as multiple video stream processing, GPS, mapping (Google Maps etc), Web 2.0, Tablet PCs, Mobile Devices, Microsoft .NET, ASP .NET, electronics and various others.


Position Overview:

Vigil Solutions is looking for a home based Pre and Post Sales Technical Support Professional to help with management of manufacture and delivery of Vigil technology to end users. The position will be working directly with the President of Vigil Solutions and Vigil systems Pty Ltd in Australia.

The position will involves flexible working hours - 35 to 49 hours per week, with working hours flexible to cover East, West Coast and Australian time zones when required.

If located on the East Coast, typcial working hours may be between 12pm to 9pm. The job will involve being on call for 5 days a week, being always connected (phone/email).

The position will involve domestic and possibly occasional


Essential Job Functions:

Providing first line of technical support to US and Canadian customers
Accurate diagnosis and logging of customer technical issues
Providing direct technical support to customers and other Vigil employees
Test, setup and send Vigil technology as required;
Perform demonstration and delivery support of Vigil technligy as needed;
Work closely Vigil (Australia) technical team to: escalate technical support enquiries when appropriate; log all technical support issues


Desirable Skills / Abilities / Attributes:

Crystal Reports software experience
Extremely good computer skills – ability to setup, debug, maintain computers and basic networks (Microsoft Windows environments)
Basic knowledge of programming –
Eg ability to edit XML documents based on custom schemas
Basic abilities with Visual Studio .NET environment
Willing to abide by company standards and guidelines
Basic working, practical knowledge of electronics
Effective Communicator: This position requires strong phone and email communication skills. Customers are calling to obtain support on critical technical issues
Must have a strong understanding of technical terms but possess the ability to methodically guide a customer through a problem to resolution.
Demonstrate excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
Must have software products skills such as Microsoft Office Suite, SNMP managers such as HP OpenView, network analysis products such as EtherReal and packet sniffers, etc.
Outgoing personality, clear email and phone manner to colleagues and customers
Understanding and empathy for complex sales / business environments
Sense of humor
Be ready to do whatever it takes to help customers
Generally thrifty, whilst knowing when money needs to be spent to get a job done
Self starter
Demonstrated ability to take ownership and work through problems / projects to make them work in real situations
Demonstrated teamwork
Have an international outlook (eg has travelled, possibly lived overseas and understands how to work productively with people from different cultures)
Good interpersonal skills (fellow employee and customer interaction)
Fast clockspeed
Knows when to ask questions and when to work through a problem individually
Patienace and effectiveness working with low sophistication end-users
Willing to travel domestically regularly – from overnight to two weeks at a time 6-12 times per year
Willing to travel internationally 1 to 3 times per year
Willing to spend several weeks training period in San Diego, with possible further away from home training/trial required (up to 1 month)


Required Qualifications / Experience:

The applicant must have demonstrable experience working in front of customers providing technical support
Various qualifications may have relevance to this position including
Microsoft Certified Professional qualifications
Other Technical qualifications
University / Community College qualifications
Bachelor or Associate Technical degree. For example, Engineering, IT, Computer Science etc
Electronics qualifications valuable but not essential
