Lead Acquisitions Editor
Publishing House is looking for a Lead Acquisitions Editor for K-8 Literacy Education list. This individual will be directly responsible for directing the strategic development of the list annually, and assisting with the coordination of work performed by all contributors. These factors, collectively, will contribute to the company’s budget formulation. Candidate will be aiding in re-forecasting for budgets and monitoring progression toward new goals.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Maintaining relationships with current staff of writers, as well as, acquiring new authors
- Working directly with Editorial Director, Editors, and Publisher planning seasonal publications
- Analyzing individual title performance, as well as, the performance of the entire literacy list
- Planning and implementing market research along with the Sales and Marketing Director
- Assisting in project and career planning activities of authors across all company lines
- Working directly with authors through process of proposal development, manuscript approval through production, marketing, and sales cycles.
- Negotiating individual and master contracts with authors
- Analyzing and evaluating competitor publications and strategies
- MUST possess minimum of 3 years experience in an acquisitions role or equivalent educational background
- MUST demonstrate working knowledge of literacy education field, networks, and authors
- MUST possess excellent writing, editing, communication, and negotiation skills
- MUST think analytically, collaborate exceptionally, and preferable well-known in education community
- MUST understand company financial statements
- MUST be willing to travel on occasion
