Home Based Field Acquisitions Editor
Publishing company has IMMEDIATE openings for Field Acquisitions Editors to work directly with university professors and programs from home office.
Responsibilities:
- Field Acquisitions Editor will acquire new titles and authors, manage existing clients, and meet and exceed their assigned territory sales goals. Candidates manage all phases of initial contact with the authors, including conceptualizing the projects negotiating contracts, and managing the deadlines.
Requirements:
- BA/BS coupled with successful sales experience in higher education publishing (marketing and/or editorial experiences)
- Excellent sales and customer service skills in higher education publishing (marketing and/or editorial experiences)
- Self-motivation and high-energy: Ability to work at a busy (yet fun) pace, mainly in-person on college campuses with professors, staff, and program-level decision makers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with excellent organizational skills
- Committed to, and have a genuine desire to, deliver outstanding client service
- Possess a drive to seek excellence with a “whatever-it-takes” attitude
- Extremely tenacious and sharp
- Have working experience with CRM systems and other technology applications needed to work a large list of prospects
- Demonstrated teamwork, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work on the road 60%+ of the time (mainly driving distance away) on college campuses with some overnight travel as needed.
- A home office set up is also needed.
Compensation includes competitive base salary + commissions + bonuses. Company also provides laptops with broadband access, cell phones, generous car allowances with gas, and a comprehensive benefits package (health, vision, dental, holiday/sick/vacation days, and 401k matching plans).
Location: San Diego, Boston, DC, New York and other “college-clustered” regions
Compensation: Competitive base salary + commissions and bonuses/benefits package
