Flexible RoR Project for Dating Site
Existing online dating site is seeking a Web Developer to PARTNER WITH CEO and help launch new version of website. Will be joining the build already in progress. Working from home and part-time arrangements are acceptable and expected.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the CEO in fleshing out new execution for v2 of site
- Critically assess and improve user experience
- Drive the architecture, build, testing, and ongoing development of site
- Integrate FaceBook Connect according to established rules and protocols
- Implement sound data structuring practices and query optimization towards mass scalability
- Work with UI designer/coder to ensure tip-top HTML, CSS, AJAX, and Javascript coding
- Design and lead an organized, effective, and maximally thorough QA program prior to, during, and after v2 launch
- Support CEO in meetings with potential partners and investors
EXPERIENCE
- Technical role at another consumer Internet company, preferably a startup
- At least 3 years of product development experience required
- At least 1 year of product management experience (preferred but not required)
- iPhone development experience a plus
- Social networking and/or online personals development experience strongly encouraged
SKILLS
- Expert command of Ruby on Rails programming
- Fluent and up-to-date with the latest in HTML/XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Strong command of building scalable architecture
- Functional understanding of AJAX
- Backend/ system admin skills (SVN, Postfix/Sendmail, server setup, etc.)
- Working understanding of the Facebook platform and the new Facebook Connect
- Strong ability to write structured code followed up with clear documentation
- Strict adherence to web 2.0 standards and cross-platform compatibility
- Sophisticated understanding of the 21-35 demographic and their usage of services like Facebook, Twitter, Match.com, OkCupid, FourSquare, BrightKite, Yelp, and more.
- Basic understanding of SEO
EDUCATION
BS/MS in CS or equivalent
Location: Work from Home/Flexible
Compensation:
$5,000 + major equity stake + profit-sharing. Version 2 of website is a subscription-based site, so there is opportunity to start earning $ from the get-go.
