Online Editor

NYC based pet company is looking for an Online Editor. This is a freelance position with the opportunity to convert to full time.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage all forms of media including newsletters, blogs, podcasts, forums, and video
  • Identify, advocate, and grow content-based revenue channels
  • Develop network of writers and bloggers for featured projects and provide them with clear briefs
  • Recruit, motivate and manage a team of community moderator and contributors
  • Interact with members of the community on a regular basis to gather their input, to encourage their participation and to formulate new functionality to meet their needs
  • Understand user interface and design well enough to add/manage all editorial content and to formulate changes to sections of the site that may need improving
  • Schedule, coordinate and oversee the production of content by others as well as writing and generating original content.
  • Effectively track schedules, manage workloads, and resolve issues to keep projects on schedule and within budget
  • Use appropriate market research to elicit feedback from target markets at key stages of a project in the form of reviews, surveys, focus groups, anecdotes, etc.
  • Partner with marketing for the preparation of promotional materials
  • Prepare and manage financial budgets for projects
  • Negotiate and prepare vendor and freelance agreements
  • Contribute to ongoing development of departmental systems and processes
 Requirements:
  • 3-5 years experience, preferable in current programming environments
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Pet lover with a strong passion and vision for helping pet owners improve their pet life management
  • Desire to work in a start-up environment
  • New Media Savvy
  • Writing and communication skills should be outstanding
  • Excellent organizational skill
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to communicate priorities, goals, and deadlines across functional teams
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve
  • Resourceful, positive attitude
