Do you love to make sense from chaos? As a member of the Sphere's Content Crawling team, you will design and develop solutions that crawl, classify, de-spam, parse, and standardize an endless variety of content from the Web. With your years of experience implementing scalable production solutions and using your second language, Python, you will help shape and bring to life Sphere's crawling strategies. Direct interaction with Sphere's users, content publishers, and data customers offers plenty of opportunities to leverage your charm, tact, and communication skills.


Responsibilities:

* Develop an understanding of our data requirements and acquisition pipeline
* Maintain and expand Sphere's crawling code base
* Architect and develop acquisition solutions for new or custom content pipelines
* Developing and implement strategies to detect and eliminate spam
* Share responsibility for ensuring unfaltering reliability of complex crawling systems
* Work closely with teammates and customers to solve complex data management issues

Requirements:

* 5+ years developing Web technologies in a LAMP environment
* 5+ years developing threaded solutions in Python
* Outstanding written and oral communication skills
* Must be a quick learner and self-directed, pro-active problem solver in a dynamic environment
* Experience developing blog-space software or tools a big plus
* Experience developing Web crawlers in Python a big plus
* Solid tech skills, solid people skills, and a passion for Web 2.0 are required
