Research Assistant

We're a small contract software development firm considering launching a new internet based service. Before committing our software resources to the project, we need a basic analysis of the marketplace: what internet alternatives are there out there that already address this issue? What competitors are there, and how much of a foothold do they have?

We'll give you a two-page sketch of the business, and ask you to spend eight or ten hours of research. Expected output is a short document describing what's out there, listing the competitors and key highlights, and making a recommendation. We are *not* looking for someone to rubber-stamp this idea; we want you to find evidence that we're going to fail and SHOOT IT DOWN!

This is only the latest of a long stream of ideas, so a good job on this will probably lead to more work in the future. However, this one is a very short term gig. (We'd prefer an individual consultant for this, but we're open to corp-to-corp consulting too.)

Interested? Let us know about you, why you're qualified, and your hourly rate. Thanks for readin'.

* Compensation: Hourly (depending on experience)
* Telecommuting is ok.
