The research/data entry position (we call it Data Elf) that we have available is part-time, 8 - 12 hours a week. You have flexibility to schedule your time, but the lion's share needs to be done during business hours because a fair amount of the time is spent on the phone.
You work from home and you need high-speed internet access, a phone and good phone manners. You need to be comfortable using the internet and somewhat familiar with search engines. Possibly the most important requirement is that you are detail-oriented and accurate in entering information into the database. We expect Data Elves to have excellent writing and grammar skills The pay is $12/hour.

A few specifics:
Colorado Notebook is an online, searchable database of community resources -- community leaders and key organizations around the state. People subscribe to it because it is very time consuming to maintain this kind of data on their own. We have a team of "Data Elves", each of whom owns a category of data ( e.g. Government records, Foundation records etc.) and keeps it up to date. This entails opening the record, clicking on the website to see if anything appears to have changed and calling the entity to verify the information. We also add new records as appropriate.

The Data Elf position is great for people looking for a part-time, flexible work arrangement. Our current team has a wide variety of experience-- from stay-at-home mom, to firefighter, to assistant pastor, to teacher, to college student.
