Science Teacher for Midwifery School (Telecommute)
Online college for midwifery and maternal child health is looking for an instructor for Microbiology and Chemistry. Both are short intro courses designed for the health care provider. Although the administrative office is in Duluth, there are no required on site visits. Position is telecommute.
Requirements Include:
1. Graduate degree with a background in either/or microbiology or chemistry. Teaching credential not required. Experience in maternal child health highly desirable.
2. Prior teaching experience, preferably online teaching experience.
3. Be proficient in using the Internet and in downloading files and attachments, and be comfortable with a variety of software.
4. Have a good computer system at home with a broadband connection. Operating system must be XP or higher for PCs. If you have a Mac, it must be 100% compatible with PCs.
5. Be dedicated to teaching that meets the Institute's Standards
Responsibilities for online teaching:
1. Be online a minimum of six out of seven days (every day is preferred), to check email and student progress during the weeks you are teaching. The time of day is flexible.
2. Complete the Faculty Orientation Course, within six weeks of being hired.
3. Review the course materials. Work with the course designer to implement any changes.
4. Provide evaluation and meaningful feedback to students.
5. Have all grading done and posted each week by the deadline.
6. Participate in faculty committees, peer review, continuing education and development activities (all online).
7. Be able to commit to 5-10 hours a week of teaching for the duration of your course, 3-6 weeks.
