Linux and Web Server System Administrator
Web and search technology company is looking for a dependable System Administrator to join our team. Candidate should be a mid-level to Senior Linux and Web Server System Administrator. This is a telecommute position with occasional face-to-face meetings near Greenfield, MA.
Experience Required:
- Related training/education and two-three years of related experience
- Linux and web server admin experience
- Shell scripting experience
- Redhat, Centos, debian, installation and operating experience
Required Skills:
- User and email user creation
- Logs rolling
- Backup running
- Network configurations, TCPIP addressing, firewalls
- Understanding of web server configuration
- Must have your own computer and high-speed internet
Familiarity with:
- Tools: bash, ssh, vi (or) jove/emacs/jed
- Source Installation Tools: configure, make, perl make, cpan, pear
- Scripting languages: perl, python, php
- Basic web page coding, HTML
- Archive Updating Tools: rpm, apt-get, up2date
Desirable Skills:
- Email MTA: Postfix, sendmail
- Database: mysql
- Cloud/Virtualization experience (AWS, Eucalyptus, OpenVZ, etc)
- Revision control systems: RCS, subversion
Non-technical Requirements:
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Excellent communications skills in both verbal and written English
- Attention to detail, organizational skills, documentation skills
- Technical writing
- Telecommuting experience
- Proven ability to successfully manage projects from start to finish. Completed project life-cycle tasks include requirements gathering, designing a project spec, implementation, testing, documentation and deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day management of the company's and client's Linux server networks. Under oversight of senior administrator.
- Assignments include:
- Updating systems, Installing new OSes, installing applications, reconfiguring the network, managing accounts, managing email, monitoring news groups for security alerts and general SysAdmin responsibilities.
