Executive Coordinator

Company is seeking an executive coordinator for state-wide advocacy group. You may work from home, but some travel within Maryland is required.

Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall administration and day-to-day functioning of coalition (for example, grant writing and reporting, member relations, budget development and monitoring, website oversight, external communications).
- Identify, interview and photograph Medicaid consumers, and draft their stories for the story project. Research and draft the associated policy messages. Coordinate weekly production and distribution of the stories during the legislative session.
- Support advocacy in Annapolis during the legislative session; keep members informed about budget and legislative developments; track status of legislative and budget priorities.
- Conference planning and coordination, including recruiting and working with volunteers.
- Service the list-serve; communicate with members through the list-serve. Maintain the website.
- Staff the display at health fairs and conferences.
- Represent at the Maryland Health Disparities Coalition.
- Handle consumer inquiries; make referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinating task-oriented sub-committees.
- Stay up-to-date on developments in federal policy; alert coalition members as needed to encourage letters and calls to Congressional delegation; handle advocacy letter sign-ons; maintain connections with Families USA, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and Medicaid Matters New York.
- Administrative tasks such as making arrangements for monthly coalition meetings; telephone conferences; correspondence; taking, writing up and distributing notes, etc.
- Recruit new  members.

Ideal candidate most posses the following requirements:
- Interest in and knowledge about health issues.
- Excellent written and oral communications skills.
-Grant writing ability and experience.
- Ability to work independently.
- Outgoing personality with excellent people skills.
- Well-organized.
- Ability to travel within Maryland for meetings and events.

Bonus skills:
- Knowledge of Medicaid and of Maryland’s legislative process desirable.
- Social work background a plus.
 
Location: Work from home/Maryland
Compensation:  $23-$26.50/hr
