RN Long-Term Care Interviewer

Long-Term Care Group is seeking an interviewer to work from home conducting telephonic interviews for clients who have applied for Long-Term Care insurance.  In addition, you will help identify key follow-up questions needed during the health interview process. This is a telecommute position, but you must attend a five day in-office training in addition to four hours of meetings a month.

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct telephonic interviews for insurance company applicants in a quiet professional environment without interruptions and/or distractions.
- Receive calls from the customer service department in order to complete telephone interviews with long-term care applicants.
- Use nursing process knowledge within the scope of completing the interviews/exams.
- When necessary, tactfully refocus applicants who wander off the subject.
- Give concise, accurate documentation on client’s health history and determine follow-up questions needed for a thorough assessment.
- Identify, document, and flag health issues for underwriters.
- Must attend five days of in-office training in addition to meetings an average of four hours per month at your own expense.

Required Qualifications:
- Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse License in the state of Minnesota
- 2+ years nursing experience required in assessments, knowledge of community resources, various clinical areas, case management, insurance, and mental health nursing is preferred
- Must type at least 40 words per minute and be proficient with MS Office
- Prior experience Excellent interpersonal skills, including:
- Building a trusting, friendly relationship quickly
- Communicating effectively and handling demanding people over the phone
- Maintaining confidentiality as appropriate and a professional demeanor
- Demonstrated team player, problem solver and decision maker
- Ability to assess telephonically the policyholder’s care needs and current care services in order to provide choices of community resources and assist in coordinating those services
- Ability to abstract information and develop an individualized plan of care based on the policyholder’s needs and his/her medical and social situation.
- Ability to evaluate the care services on an ongoing basis and work with the policyholder to revise the plan of care as needed.
- Ability to understand cognitive deficits and develop a plan of care that would maintain the policyholder’s safety in the least restrictive environment.
- Ability to manage a client caseload with proficiency as well as other designated responsibilities.
