Regional Census Director
Company is seeking a Regional Director fluent in Spanish to work with the National Census Director for the 2010 Census. This is a telecommute position with some travel around your region.
Job responsibilities:
- Coordinates and disseminates census promotional material within the assigned region including print, broadcast, and electronic media in English and Spanish
- Travels to areas outside of his/her home city with high hard-to-count scores to promote Census participation in other Southwestern states
- Communicates regularly with census, policy and legal staff to monitor Census 2010 policy and implementation in assigned region
- Maintains regional database of volunteers, cooperating organizations, and governmental and media contacts
- Prepares weekly and quarterly reports of activities to the National Director of Census 2010.
Candidate must possess the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 2 years public speaking or broadcast media (radio or television) experience
- Must have outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to form and maintain relationships and alliances
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and to organize and prioritize workload efficiently
- Must be able to speak Spanish with a high level of fluency
- Must have excellent public speaking abilities, and be able to articulate the importance of Latino participation in the Census 2010 to a wide variety of audiences in person, on television, on the radio and through public service announcements
- Must have excellent computer skills and be particularly adept with electronic mail, word processing, database management, and spreadsheet software
- Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills, with particular attention to detail and accuracy, are required
- Valid Texas Driver License and automobile insurance

- In-depth knowledge of community organizing and relationship building
- Knowledge of and support for principles and organizational goal
- Knowledge of and an ability to work with print, electronic, and broadcast media
- Ability to prioritize workload and to meet deadlines under pressure
- Ability to perform work in a home office setting, requiring ordinary physical activity
- Ability to travel frequently by automobile or airplane as required
Location: Partial Telecommute / Dallas TX
Compensation: $17.30 to $19.15 per hour
