SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Software Development you will work closely with the software development and product management teams, taking responsibility for writing and editing technical specifications for the eRx NOW product. You will deliver these specifications to the offshore development team, and will be the primary point of contact for providing answers to any questions regarding specified functionality; providing clarification and additional detail when necessary.

Additional responsibilities will include: developing and updating online HTML Help that is well written, presented, and communicates efficiently to the end-user; creating release notes for internal and external customers for new version releases; and participating in project management to ensure that the offshore development team delivers specified functionality in a timely manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Create standard templates (based on templates used by other product groups at Allscripts where appropriate) for technical specifications and software release notes.
• Interact with the software development and product management teams to gather all information necessary to create technical specifications.
• Produce technical specifications that describe in detail the requirements new/updated functionality in the eRx NOW product.
• Detail will be such the developer will have enough information to accurately implement the functionality in the software.
• Specifications will include (but will not necessarily be limited to): English text descriptions; use case analyses; screen mock-ups; and interaction diagrams.
• Deliver (electronically) technical specifications to the local and offshore development teams.
• Meet with the offshore development team (teleconference/web conference) to review specifications, answer questions, and provide additional input where necessary.
• Meet with the offshore development team (teleconference) to assess status of projects; and communicate that status to the Director of Software Development.
• Interact with the quality assurance, software development, product management, and support teams to create internal and external (customer “friendly”) release notes for new version releases.
• Interact with software development, product management, and product support teams to create and/or update HTML-based applications, e.g. help system, e-commerce system, marketing website, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS
• BA/BS in English, Technical Writing, or related degree (required).
• Minimum of 4 years total experience in software development or support (required).
• Fluent in the English language: excellent comprehension and knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar (required).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Word (required).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in writing technical specifications for software products (required) and browser-based software (preferred).
• Experience with Imaging Software (e.g., Photoshop, Paint) for screen mock ups (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Project or other project tracking software (preferred)
• HTML coding experience (preferred).
• Unified Modeling Language (UML) experience (preferred).
• Fluent in the Hindi language (preferred).
• Experience with healthcare related software a plus.
• Experience in working with offshore development a plus.
• A can-do attitude, mixed with outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
