Have You Ever Thought About Telecommuting?

There are many companies who have found out the ease and savings related to telecommuting and are allowing their long-term employees to work out of their homes. To telecommute from home, you have to develop a good working relationship with your boss so that he or she can trust you to work from home in a disciplined environment that you have to create for yourself.

You have to still be professional, reliable and have the necessary equipment to telecommute from home. You will need the same office space, phone, fax, copier, and computer with Internet and email access to function effectively as a Telecommuter.

You may be asked to sign an Independent Contractor agreement or consultant agreement. However, depending on the company and the individual boss, you may be allowed to keep your benefits and work as an employee still.

A lot of companies who use Telecommuters are those who provide transcription and medical billing service. However, more and more business owners are finding out that they can save large amounts on office expenses if they can get their most dedicated employees to work out of their homes.

Sometimes, it takes being proactive and asking your boss, if they would allow you to telecommute. You have to be able to prove your trustworthiness. You have to be punctual, be consistent with your workload and work ethics.

There is a website located at www.tjobs.com that specifically post telecommuting jobs that might interest you. Up to the point of writing this article, there were no charges for the service, but that might have changed. Everybody is taking on the premise, “there is nothing free in this world.” It might be worth your while to check it out.

You will be able to work from home and choose your own hours, but you will also be expected to maintain good work habits and get the work done in the allotted time given.

Some telecommuters may find themselves with greater workloads, if they are not careful in organizing their time and work. There may be other distractions around the home, so you have to be able to remain focused and think about the luxury of staying home. A lot of people want to do just that.
