Investigating work at home Programs
There are work at home programs that are legitimate, but there are some that are only just scams. To make sure that you don’t get scammed, you can follow these investigative procedures to protect yourself.
The first and most neglected method to find a work at home program is to get everything in writing. Find out what is involved with the program and what is expected of you. Some questions to ask would include:
- What are the duties involved with your projects? Get a list of duties in writing.
- Will this be a salaried position or is it a commission based work at home job
- Who will send my checks?
- How often will I be paid?
- When will be the first paycheck?
- How much does the work at home program cost and what do I get for the cost?
- Are there any membership fees involved?
- Is this on-going work?
- Are you registered with the Better Business Bureau?
- Are you a member of any organizations?
Whatever answers that you get for these questions will help you to decide whether this work at home program is right for you and if it is legitimate or not.
You can do further investigation by contacting the Better Business Bureau, any membership organizations that the company says that they are affiliated with, the Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and any other consumer protection agency in the State that the company is doing business in.
These organizations will be able to provide adequate information on whether they have any complaints about the business that is selling you the work at home program. However, be careful not to think that if there are no complaints, that means the company is legitimate. There are a lot of dishonest companies out there that resolve complaints with customers then may change the company’s name and start over again just to avoid any discovery.
