Men and The Work at home office
When we think of work at home employees, we usually think of an army of Moms. Little busy bees typing with one hand, a baby on the knee and supper boiling away on the stove. While this is possibly an accurate depiction in some homes. In some homes it is Dad who is doing the typing on the computer. Maybe he is the one with the baby on the knee, a box of pork chop helper is on the counter, just waiting until he can get a minute to get it started before Mom gets back. This scene is also being played out all over America by men who have also found that they want to be there for the family too. He wants to see the first steps and the first teeth to come in. He wants to get to know the baby. Not just be a part time parent- he wants to be there. What a great time to have chosen a work at home career. Dad can do as much work as he decides he can do and be a full time Dad also. Studies have been done that tell how much better, happier, and well adjusted kids grow up when Dad is a real presence in their life. Employers are happy to have WAHD's apply for jobs. He has experience, perspective, determination. Depending on his experience, he can usually get a good rate for his work. If you are a man and are deciding that this is something you may want to do, then I must warn you to be prepared for the shocked look on most peoples faces when they learn of your decision to work at home. It comes from the old concept of men being the "hunter and gatherers" . Aren't you supposed to go OUT and get the family needs. No, they might protest. If the cave men had, had computers they would have ordered their Mastodon Steaks from the corner restaurant. Times are different now and people will get over the shock quick enough. Ask them if they might be called upon if you need help or support with the children, no one will turn you down I'd be willing to bet. One of my favorite sayings is" No man stands so tall, as when he stoops to help a child." You should be proud to be a WAHD.
