Education and Salary of WAH Jobs

As I search for work at home (WAH) jobs, I ask myself, “What type of education will I need to get a WAH job?” Below is a list of WAH jobs and their corresponding education requirements. In addition, I have included a typical salary for each job, if you possess the necessary educational requirements.

Computer System Analyst – This job requires a person to design high-level computer systems, test new ideas from their home, and learn new tools such as video chat and virtual desktops. This job requires a computer science degree. If you possess a bachelor degree in this field, your salary can begin at $30 or more per hour.

Paralegal – This job requires a person to conduct research for lawyers. Legal firms look for WAH employees to save office space while others enjoy the flexibility of a WAH employee. This job requires an associates degree and the salary of many paralegals begin at $20 an hour.

Web Design Professional – This job requires a person to design professional and competitive web sites. The skills required for this job include design skills, programming knowledge, and a solid portfolio. The education requirement is a web design degree, which are available through many online institutions. If you possess the education requirements, you can earn $20 an hour as a WAH web designer.

Medical Transcriptionist – This job involves transcribing notes and files from medical offices and health care facilities into a digital file. Many employers prefer education from an online medical transcription program. A medical transcriptionist can earn $14 an hour.

Many jobs out there do not require any education requirements. However, these jobs do not pay these same salary levels. With an education, you increase you chances of obtaining a higher-than-average hourly wage.
