Managing Your Time
working from your home can provide you with many opportunities, which includes flexibility and financial rewards. However, you could run into problems managing your time. How do you keep from meshing your business time with your personal time? Do you really take a lunch break? Below are a few tips to managing your time to find that balance between your work and home life: Create a weekly or daily schedule – Post your schedule so that everyone in the family can sees it. Incorporate family events (such as football, dance, grocery shopping, etc.) into the schedule. This can help the family understand the times that you work and the times that you are off duty and devoted 100% to the family. Take appropriate breaks – Make sure you do not give more of yourself than necessary. Take, at least, a 30-minute lunch. Use this time to watch a recorded show (without interruptions) or run a personal errand to get out of the house. Allot time for yourself to ensure you are mentally prepared for both home and work. Maintain a daily routine – Get up in the morning and complete a daily routine similar to the one you did when you worked outside the home. Take a shower, make lunches, drink coffee, get kids off to school, and report to work. When it is quitting time, shut down the computer and do not return to it until the next morning. This routine gets you in the mindset of when it is work time and when it is family time. In today’s culture, there is never enough time to get everything done. Take advantage of these tips to use your time more efficiently, both at work and at home.
