Support For the Work at home mom

It is definitely not an easy task to be a work at home mother. If your priorities are that you feel you are the best one to care for the children and you work toward that goal. You will need to acknowledge that you will need help and support when working in the home with children near by. There are many possibilities of who, how and when to receive support. First look to family members you live with. Can they take a fussy baby if Mom or Dad have a deadline? Can you exchange tasks with someone, like grandparents, a sister, aunts, uncles, or even an older child in the home. Exchange babysitting with your best friend. A good movie once in awhile will help to entertain the children for a short time.

Even though this will take some of your time, spend time playing with your children. Then watch the magic happen after they have had your attention. They will spend much more time playing together and not needing your constant attention.

Do not overlook your employer for support, especially if they like your work. Keeping you a loyal and responsible employee will be a priority for them also. Communicate with your boss about the challenges you may be having and some of the problems from working from home. They possibly will have suggestions for you to help carry the burdens and concerns for being at home. Such as delaying some of the deadlines if possible, sharing the work load, making a lighter work load on you. Possibly working even part time and not full time if that is a possibility.

Working at home is such a worthwhile endeavor. Do not let yourself become discouraged or frustrated. If this happens, take a break, in fact take a break before you get too tired. Make sure your work space is as comfortable as you can make it. Eat healthy snacks throughout the day. Put on comfortable clothes, maybe take a nice relaxing bath before starting work or after work. It will go a long way to calm you.

So what ever you do, look for your support system before you need it. Have an idea what you can do if you need support, and try to do those things that relax you and make you happy, whether it is watching a little television, playing with the kids, going out side for a walk, just take care of yourself. Find your sources of support and you will be able to much more productive.
