Vermont Remote Worker Grants: 14 Remote Jobs for New Residents

Vermont will pay remote workers up to $10,000 to relocate to the Green Mountain State. We discuss Vermont remote worker grants and provide examples of top telecommute jobs new Vermont residents should consider.

Vermont Remote Worker Grants: 14 Remote Jobs for New Residents

Governor Phil Scott signed a new Remote Worker Grant Program into law that will reimburse telecommuters who bring remote jobs into Vermont. Though some current residents remain critical of the program, Vermont may be setting the standard for other states to attract more remote employees.

In this article, we clarify some of the new program’s details, provide examples of top telecommute jobs, and offer tips for a smooth transition.

New Remote Worker Grant Program in Vermont

Vermont’s Remote Worker Grant Program defines a “new remote worker” as someone who:

  • Works as a full-time employee
  • Works for an employer based outside of Vermont
  • Becomes a full-time Vermont resident on or after January 1, 2019

Freelancers, independent contractors, and temporary and seasonal workers may not qualify for the program. Full-time employees who work for a Vermont-based company do not qualify either.

Keep in mind, you are not guaranteed the full $10K reimbursement for all expenses associated with any potential relocation. Qualifying expenses include the following:

  • Moving and relocation costs
  • Computer software and hardware
  • Broadband access or upgrade
  • Membership to a co-working space or similar space

Plus, you may receive up to $5,000 per year, not the whole $10K at one time.

14 Telecommute Jobs for Remote Workers Moving to Vermont

One of the stipulations of Vermont’s new Remote Worker Grant Program is that you can’t work for a company based in Vermont. Therefore, if you’re on the hunt for a new telecommuting job to help you qualify for the program, ensure the company you want to work for is headquartered in another state.

Here’s a list of telecommuting jobs to get you started with your search. You’ll also find thousands of other openings in the Virtual Vocations Database including Vermont telecommute jobs.
