If you\u2019re working remotely without a home office, you aren\u2019t alone. During the COVID-19 pandemic, millions of American workers turned a room or a nook of their home into a makeshift office. Even more interesting, remote work has become more of a <\/span>normality of employment<\/span><\/a>, creating a permanent necessity for a dedicated office space. Regardless of your current situation, you can still find ways to optimize any area of your home to masquerade as a dedicated office space. Here are some tips to get you started.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your Bed Isn\u2019t Your Office (Or Maybe It Is)<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beds are comfortable. They\u2019re plush, soft, and comforting. They\u2019re where humans spend half of their lives<\/a>. So working out of bed shouldn\u2019t seem like a far stretch.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But studies show that <\/span>working from your bed<\/span><\/a> can be harmful to your productivity and sleep patterns. Subconsciously, your brain associates work with your location. So if you start to blend sleep and relaxation with business, you\u2019ve confused your poor brain. Suddenly, your place of refuge has become an in-home cubicle. And that’s a feeling that no one should have.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Solution: <\/strong>Get your office as far away from your bedroom as possible while remaining comfortable. Some sort of table is preferable, but if you need to sit on a couch or in a recliner, just don\u2019t get too comfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Got a Bit of Extra Closet Space? Don\u2019t Waste It<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Not everyone has a ton of extra closet space. But closet space can often double as a desk \u2014 at least a temporary one. Working from a closet may seem like a step backward. But it\u2019s still an effective way of working remotely without a home office.<\/span> And it ensures a quiet space where you can work uninterrupted, since no one else can probably fit in there with you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Easily Distracted? Watch Those Windows<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
