Backend Engineer
Job Summary
To support the development of an advanced network simulation platform, the long-term contract Backend Engineer will build and maintain backend services, design scalable RESTful APIs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams while working remotely in the EST time zone.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend services for orchestrating virtualized network nodes and simulation environments using technologies like QEMU and libvirt
- Design and build scalable RESTful APIs for user interaction with complex network topologies
- Support network automation and infrastructure-as-code workflows, optimizing platform performance and reliability
Required qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of backend software development experience
- Strong programming experience in Python and/or Go, with expertise in designing and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Hands-on experience with Linux systems programming and virtualization technologies such as QEMU, libvirt, and Docker
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, routing, and switching
- Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development practices
