Certified Medical Coder

Job Summary

To support medical coding operations, the remote Certified Medical Coder will assign CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient ancillary services, ensure adherence to coding guidelines, and maintain coding quality and productivity standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for outpatient services while following official coding guidelines
• Analyze and correct CCI Edits and Medical Necessity Edits, and maintain up-to-date coding knowledge
• Provide documentation feedback to providers and query physicians when necessary

Required qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED
• Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC (e.g., CCA, CCS, CPC)
• 2+ years of experience with ICD-10 outpatient coding
• Intermediate proficiency using a PC in a Windows environment, including EMR systems
