Certified Outpatient Coder

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Outpatient/Provider Coder Level 2.

Key Responsibilities

• Review charges and report on documentation issues by contacting appropriate personnel
• Abstract, code, and assign appropriate coding classifications for multiple/sub specialty services
• Mentor and assist in training Level 1 Coders while providing feedback on coding-related issues

Required Qualifications

• Nationally recognized coding certification (e.g., CPC, CCS) or 3 years of coding experience
• Minimum of 2 years of coding, clinical, or billing experience required
• Basic knowledge of clinical documentation requirements and health insurance processing
• Proficiency with computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Ability to obtain a recognized coding certification within 6 months if qualifying under equivalency without certification
