Database Internals Engineer

Job Summary

Working remotely on a full-time basis, the Database Internals Engineer will build core components of a next-generation parallel compute engine, focusing on SQL front end, storage substrate, and transaction management while collaborating with a small team of experts in the field.

Key responsibilities

• Build components across the engine spine including SQL front end, logical/physical plan layer, and operators
• Develop the storage substrate and implement transactions and recovery mechanisms
• Add parallelism and distribution for query execution and data correctness

Required qualifications

• Strong experience in systems programming using Rust or modern C/C++
• Deep expertise in distributed query optimization or execution engine internals
• Demonstrated knowledge of relational algebra and cost-based optimization
• Experience with vectorized execution over columnar data representations
• Familiarity with testing methodologies including property and fuzz testing
