Inpatient Coding Associate

Job Summary

A company is looking for an Inpatient Coding Associate to review clinical documentation and assign appropriate codes for billing purposes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assign accurate codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers) for diagnoses, treatments, and procedures while meeting daily quotas with 95% accuracy
• Review and clarify physician-assigned diagnosis codes and query physicians for clarification when necessary
• Adhere to Standards of Ethical Coding by AHIMA and AAPC, and communicate with other departments to provide coding guidance

Required Qualifications, Training, and Education

• HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent
• Active CCS, CIC, RHIT, or RHIA certification with work experience in facility inpatient coding
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and coding guidelines including ICD-10 PCS and CM, HCPCS, and CPT-4 coding
