Job Summary
Leading the technical direction for public-sector investigations, the full-time Lead Applied Scientist will focus on developing AI systems for FOIA and public-records workflows, ensuring reliability and defensibility in the review of large datasets in a remote/hybrid environment.
Key responsibilities
- Set technical direction for the workstream, choosing approaches and ensuring coherence across contributors
- Lead the scientific evaluation of AI systems, reviewing designs and unblocking complex problems
- Own the readiness of AI systems from problem framing to production monitoring in collaboration with engineering
Required qualifications
- A master's or PhD in computer science or a quantitative discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in applied AI/ML
- Eligibility for a US Public Trust clearance
- Working knowledge of privacy and records standards, including FOIA exemptions and PII handling
- Experience in deploying AI systems and leading data-driven studies
