Legal Audit Counsel

Job Summary

To support a growing Legal Management Services department, the full-time Legal Audit Counsel will validate legal bill charges using attorney guidelines and industry standards, resolve billing disputes, and educate law firms and staff on the bill review process while working remotely.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure prompt and accurate auditing of legal fee and expense invoices in compliance with litigation and billing guidelines
• Conduct detailed reviews of invoices to assess accuracy and reasonableness, identifying billing discrepancies as needed
• Collaborate with claims managers and attorneys to resolve billing issues and educate stakeholders on the bill review process

Required qualifications

• Five years of experience in litigation and legal billing practices, including knowledge of civil court rules and procedures
• Three years of experience in legal bill review with exposure to various billing complexities
• Proficiency in eBilling platforms, including Bottomline's LegalX and Legal Exchange
• Strong analytical skills to assess AI-generated insights and validate billing exceptions
• Juris Doctor (JD) in good standing
