Job Summary
Working remotely on a contract basis, the Safety Analysis Engineer, Nuclear will perform deterministic nuclear safety analysis and transient/accident modeling to support U.S. NRC licensing submittals while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities
- Perform deterministic safety analysis using RELAP5-3D code for the Natrium sodium fast reactor
- Analyze design basis accidents (DBAs) and licensing basis events (LBEs) to support reactor licensing with the US NRC
- Develop safety analysis reports, including the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR), and maintain documentation of models and analysis results
Required qualifications
- Extensive experience in nuclear safety analysis and reactor system modeling
- Proficiency with safety analysis software such as RELAP5, TRACE, or similar
- Experience in transient and accident analysis for NRC submittals
- Degree: B.S. with 10+ years or M.S./Ph.D. with 5-7+ years in nuclear engineering or a relevant field
- Strong knowledge of nuclear systems thermal-hydraulics, reactor physics, and transient phenomena
