Job Summary

A healthcare company has a current position open for a Remote Inpatient Coder.

Candidates will be responsible for the following:

  • Reviewing medical records for the determination of accurate assignments of all documented diagnoses and procedures
  • Adhering to Standards of Ethical Coding (AHIMA)
  • Reviewing medical records to determine accurate required abstracting elements

Position Requirements Include:

  • Ability to travel
  • Average coding quality standard of greater than 95% accuracy per monitoring period
  • Knowledge of MS-DRG classification and reimbursement structures
  • Understanding of appropriate level of care orders and working knowledge of Value Based Purchasing (VBP)
  • Proficient at writing AHIMA complaint physician queries  and adept at comparing documentation and code assignment
  • Proficient in researching and responding to Business Office questions and/or question by the payer
  • Functional knowledge of facility EMR, encoder and other support software
  • One to three years’ experience performing medical record coding in acute care setting and must be a high school graduate
