Job Summary
A healthcare company is seeking a Remote Outpatient Coder I in Scarborough.
Core Responsibilities of this position include:
- Being responsible for the accurate assignment of ICD-9-CM (ICD-10-CM) and CPT-4 coding of diagnoses and procedures
- Abstracting to determine accuracy and completeness of the outpatient record
- Evaluating medical necessity and Correct Coding Initiative edits and resolves them
Qualifications for this position include:
- CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or CPC-A credential required
- Completion of the MH Coder I apprenticeship program
- Or 1-2 years' experience coding in an outpatient setting using 3M Coding and/or Optum Reimbursement encoder and CAC products
- Demonstrated, applied knowledge of ICD-9-CM (ICD-10-CM) and CPT-4 coding guidelines and principles required
- Good understanding of Anatomy and Physiology as well as Pharmacology
