Job Summary

A software developer that creates tools that allow users to host video calls over the internet is searching for a person to fill their position for a Remote Senior Patent Portfolio and Open Source Counsel.

Core Responsibilities Include:

• Building company’s organic patent portfolio, while also serving as the primary legal counselor to our Products team on inbound and outbound open source matters
• Developing patent portfolio and attending to open source matters
• Managing outside counsel in preparing and prosecuting a large volume of patent applications, including reviewing claims to ensure high quality

Qualifications Include:

• 8+ years of experience in patent portfolio development and inbound/outbound open source counseling
• Strong U.S. patent preparation and prosecution experience in the software area
• Expertise in identifying and framing up patentable inventions
• Expertise in counseling on open source compliance, participation in open source projects, and open sourcing of company technology
• Proven strong organizational and process-development skills
• Registered patent attorney with JD from a top-tier law school
