Job Summary

Description:

The Infrastructure specialist, provides expert level consulting, technical planning, technical design/architecture and operational direction; and maintains all business and infrastructure systems. You'll be regarded as the subject matter expert and make decisions in situations where there is scope for interpretation of results. You'll apply guidelines, procedures, and best practices and recognize and analyze problems across projects or domain areas.

This is a part-time remote role that can be done from anywhere in the US or Latin America (LATAM). The hours will be approximately 15-20 hours/week, paid hourly.

What you'll be doing:

System Administration

Provide first level system support that is primarily composed of advanced administrative tasks. Handles some Architect responsibilities where needed and if skill-set allows.
Proactively monitors to identify connections, patterns or trends and makes recommendations for action.
Identify systems and processes that can be standardized, defines and prioritizes initiatives and implements.
Recommend, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance processes, standards and tools to ensure optimal system up-time of production systems.
Remain current on operation system administration procedures and best practices.
Update knowledge of accepted industry and company standards to improve service delivery.
Own problem solving and change management processes.
Educate peers and customers when appropriate.
Ensure solutions do not negatively impact other parts of the system or introduce new defects.
Projects

Lead and participate in concurrent projects.
Ensure technology is aligned with [A] goals and objectives.
Identify and analyze problems across projects or domain areas.
Keep in mind business requirements when deploying infrastructure such as high availability, redundancy and disaster recovery into the logical/physical design that may be needed
Research, pilot, evaluate new technologies and standards. Identify how they will integrate with the corporate network and recommends strategies, keeping high security and usability in mind.
Solve unusual problems or problems with a significant impact on the business.
Liaise with the dev group, and any vendors around infrastructure needs/requirements.
Inform Project and/or Resource Manager on any issues or risks.
Other related tasks and projects as assigned.
You may be a good match for this role if you have the following:

Expert experience with networks, Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016 operating systems, applications such as MS Office, email, web, and Windows.
Expert knowledge of Windows Server OS/ Client OS, Active Directory, IIS, VPN/Windows Networking technologies.
Good understanding of Powershell for Windows, Hyper-V. Seasoned Azure platform knowledge. Excellent troubleshooting skills on Microsoft technologies and networking. Experience with Backup, disaster recovery/restores, high availability.
Ensure that services SLAs/OLAs are being met.
Ensure preventative security measures and awareness.
Engage in security incident analysis, reporting and remediation.
Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge to complex situations.
Experience providing coaching and guidance
Ability to diagnose faults under pressure by understanding the integration of complex systems
Excellent listening skills
Troubleshooting methodologies
Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to audio conference on-line without issue
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work both independently and with other team members
Demonstrated ability to be proactive when dealing with issues and challenges

Education

Bachelor's Degree

Microsoft Certifications a plus

Experience

10 to 12 years system administration and project coordination in the IT industry.
