Job Summary

Virbela is looking for a highly-skilled Senior Tools Engineer to join our technology team. Our ideal candidate will have expert knowledge in .NET software engineering principles in areas relevant to the development of virtual world platforms. You will work closely with developers across the team to create and support Tools to enhance their creativity and productivity. You will help define the content/art pipeline that empowers our creators. This can include experience in software development for games, simulations or other multimodal platforms.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

Design and development of various asset creation and management tools ranging from exporters to content creation tools, to asset management tools, to build tools, to frameworks
Able to identify workflow or pipeline blockers and work to establish solutions for both internal and external creators
Create clear and concise documentation to support the process and tooling
Provide expert technical advice to multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing deep knowledge and experience
Integrate software with 3rd party APIs and SDKs

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Education:

B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related work experience

Experience:

Strong technical credentials, with 5+ years of engineering for games or software deliverables
Proficiency in C#/.NET, Unity, and development of editor tools
Proficiency in data structures, performance, multi-threaded techniques, modular architecture, algorithms, event-driven architecture, and software design patterns
SOLID coding practices and design, unit testing, and peer code-reviews
Ability to leverage knowledge of internal and industry prior art in design decisions

Nice to Haves:

DevOps experience, CI tools familiarity
Experience with scripting for 3D modeling applications
Usage of cloud services: AWS, Azure
Experience in other languages such as C++/Java/Powershell/Bash/Python/Lua
