Research Associate

Job Summary

Assisting in the management of patient records and specimens for testing, the full-time Research Associate will coordinate diagnostic testing and genomic epidemiology for various viruses while working in a general laboratory and office setting with occasional remote flexibility.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a liaison between VRDL and partners to maintain epidemiological information for patient and specimen tracking
• Perform data extraction, cleaning, analysis, and visualization using laboratory and public health data sources
• Prepare and ship specimens and documents while ensuring compliance with regulations for infectious materials

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public health, biological sciences, or a related field
• Previous experience working or volunteering in a public health setting is preferred
• Proficiency with MS Excel and experience with database programs such as MS Access
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Knowledge of statistical analysis is preferred
