Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

To support the Identity and Access Management team, the fully remote Senior Backend Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems for user identity, authentication, and authorization, while mentoring other engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Steer high-impact projects that align with Reddit's goals and enhance IAM systems
• Build and execute strategies for a more performant and scalable architecture around authentication and authorization
• Amplify team capabilities through mentoring and collaboration with technical contributors

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems, with 2+ years in security-sensitive domains
• Technical understanding of identity concepts and authentication protocols (OAuth2, OIDC, SAML)
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages, preferably Go
• Experience with cloud infrastructure such as Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, or GCP
• Demonstrated ability to identify and drive high-impact projects that align with company strategy
